Winter Classic 2025 is Coming!
Mark your calendars, Tuesday nights are about to heat up with some serious winter chess action! The Norths Winter Classic is back and better than ever. Whether you're chasing your next big win or just want to test your skills in a fun, competitive setting, there’s a tournament for you.

Tuesdays, 3 June – 29 July, Start time: 7:30 PM sharp

We’ve got two tournaments running side-by-side:
Major: For players rated 1400 and up. Serious time control: 90 mins + 30 sec/move.
Minor: For under 1400s. A little faster but still fierce: 60 mins + 30 sec/move.

Played in a 9-round Swiss format (Vega pairings). If you’re under 1400 but smashed it in the 2025 Club Champs, you might be eligible to join the Major, check the rules here: https://www.northsydneychess.org/winter-classic

Open to all! Just make sure you’ve got a FIDE ID if you're not an Aussie player.

Prizes: 1st: $200, 2nd: $150, 3rd: $100, Rating Group A: $50, Rating Group B: $50 (One prize per player with ties split evenly)
Entry Fees: $20 for NCC members, $30 for non-members, Free if you're a GM, IM, WGM or WIM
