We kick off with our 2025 Champion Etthan Chang taking on all comers in a Simul on 27 January. The next week 3 February is the first round of the Club Championship.

2026 is shaping up to be one of the strongest and most diverse years of chess Norths has ever offered. From elite grandmaster events to grassroots club favourites, there is something for every player, at every level.

Members can look forward to a full competitive calendar including our Club Championship, Purdy Memorial and  Winter Classic  Speedsters will enjoy the Club Championship Blitz, Purdy Blitz, Summer Blitz, and our  popular innovation Big Blitz events. Other quick events are the Rapid and Allegro.

We are thrilled to be hosting world class chess minds, including a lecture and simul by Viswanathan Anand, a simul with Mitrabha Guha, and a special lecture by Ian Rogers. These events alone make 2026 a standout year to be part of the club.

Team and community events remain a core focus, with the Gosford Match, Team Blitz, Little Board, and Big Board returning, including revised rules to keep things fresh and competitive. Our junior and senior members are also well supported with dedicated tournaments.
